The town of Leavenworth is a faux Bavarian village nested in the Cascades.
It's a bit overdone, and an obvious tourist trap, but pleasant enough for all that.

The Bavarian motif is evidently the result of a conscious decision on the part of
the town. "Build it and they will come." Well, y'know, they were
pretty much right. On the other hand, take into account that there isn't much of
anything else on that road but trees and mountains.

Evidently Leavenworth gets really packed in the summer. It's near many
outdoor activities, and there are a number of faux Bavarian hotels there for tourists.
In the winter it becomes a massive Christmas village.
We were kind of glad to have gotten there in March, when things were a little bit
less crowded (or weird).
